2. WorldFlow Flash Report: Crude Oil Spikes to Exceed $100 per Barrel on Mideast Unrest

February 24, 2011 (Wakefield, MA) – The price of crude oil surged to over $100 a barrel today as unrest in the Middle East and northern Africa continued.  The most immediate cause for the spike in oil prices was diminished production from Libya.

4. Industry News: Emerson Opens $3 Million Flow Calibration and Service Center in Abu Dhabi

Big news this February, as Emerson has opened a calibration and service center for the Middle East and Africa. This is the first, in-region VSL (formerly NMI) Calibration and Measurement Capability certified calibration facility in the Middle East. This facility also complies with ISO/IEC-17025 standards. Previously the region faced limited options and high operational hurdles to validate flow device calibrations or to provide required third party documentation associated with ISO9000 Quality or regulatory requirements.

5. Vortex Study Highlights New Developments in the Market!

The World Market for Vortex Flowmeters, 4th Edition is now available!

A lot of important developments have occurred in the vortex flowmeter market in the past several years. This study takes these developments into account, and provides a completely updated look at the worldwide vortex flowmeter market.

One exciting new development is the formulation of a standard for the use of vortex flowmeters in custody transfer applications. This standard was approved by the American Petroleum Institute (API) in January 2007, as a result of expressed needs by manufacturers and end-users alike. In this study, we determined the impact this standard is having on the vortex flowmeter market. This is just one of the many dynamic changes that are occurring in this fast-changing market.

7. Liquid Analytical Study Is Now Shipping!

We just wrapped up The World Market for Liquid Analytical Instruments study, and it is now shipping!

Liquid analytical measurement applications and their associated revenues have grown significantly during the last several years. A major driver of this growth worldwide has been the expansion in demand for finer analyses of process variables related to enhanced industrial process quality targets, more stringent environmental compliance standards, and technology advances. There is also a major trend moving laboratory applications to the real-time process itself. And there has been significant new capital projects growth in large regional economies such as India and China during this time as well.

Our research determines where growth is occurring - and where it is not - in terms of application, industry, and geography. The results of this study will inform you about where the highest returns should be expected to occur through 2014 in these three basic market segments.

8. Industry News: GE Acquires Dresser – Announced February 1st

The latest in a series of acquisitions over the past decade, GE has completed the takeover of Dresser, Inc. The Dresser businesses will be integrated into GE’s Energy Services and Power & Water business units and has contributed to transforming GE’s global energy portfolio.

The company has also announced several more acquisition deals in the works.

To view the press release, see http://www.dresser.com/index.cfm/go/content-detail/dresserpage/GE_Acquires_Dresser/.

9. Gas Flow Measurement Study Goes Modular!

Interest in gas flow measurement among users remains at a very high level.  We believe that this is an optimal time to quantify the growth in this market, and to take another in-depth look at what appears to be an expanding market.

A major driver of this growth worldwide has been the expansion in demand for natural gas and related energy products.  There have also been significant new capital projects in large regional economies such as India, China and the Middle East.

Our research intends to determine where growth is occurring - and where it is not - in terms of application, industry, and geography. The results of this study will inform the reader about where the highest returns should be expected to occur through 2015 in these three basic market segments.

Our new gas flowmeter study will also feature five add-on modules that will provide more in-depth information on end-user markets, on custody transfer, and on multiphase flow measurement.

Module A: Natural Gas Producers Worldwide: Module A is mainly oriented towards companies that want to enhance their instrumentation sales worldwide to the larger producers of natural gas.  It will include company profiles of the large producers, relationships among them, strategies for marketing to them, and a discussion of trends in flow measurement relative to these large companies. This module will also contain critical data on natural gas production and reserves, broken out by region and by many of the larger countries.

For more information on this module, go to www.worldnatgas.com.

Module B: Natural Gas Producers in the Middle East: Module B will include profiles of natural gas producers in the Middle East, and will be oriented towards instrumentation companies that want to increase their sales in the Middle East. This module will also contain critical data on natural gas production and reserves, broken out by region and by many of the larger countries.

For more information on this module, go to www.mideastnatgas.com

Module C: The World Market for Custody Transfer of Natural Gas: Module C will focus specifically on the market for custody transfer of natural gas, which is the fastest-growing niche within the flowmeter market. Much of the growth in this market has been due to growth in the use of ultrasonic flowmeters for custody transfer applications, spurred by the standards set by the American Gas Association (AGA), the  International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML).

For more information on this module, go to www.custodytransfer.com.

Module D: Strategies, Industries & Applications: Module D provides strategies for companies already in the flowmeter market as well as for those considering joining. Company strategies apply to the entire flowmeter market, as well as to individual product lines.

Module E: The World Market for Dual Phase and Multiphase Flowmeters: This module focuses specifically on the newest types of flowmeters to enter the market. Most applications measure one type of flow, either liquid, gas, or steam.  This is called single phase flow measurement.  However, a need has now developed to measure fluids with more than one phase.  This measurement is of dual phase or multiphase flow, and it primarily occurs in the oil & gas industry.

For further information on the module, please visit www.FlowMultiphase.com.

10. Oil Flow Measurement Study Goes Modular Too!

The price of crude oil surged to over $100 a barrel last month as unrest in the Middle East and northern Africa continued. With no price dip in sight, this is one area we need to study. Don’t miss our modular study, The World Market for Oil Flow Measurement, to be published in Q3 2011.
